What changed
Surefire began life at Top of Mind Networks, which Black Knight acquired in 2021. When ICE bought Black Knight in 2023, Surefire came with it. In January 2025, ICE began sunsetting its legacy Encompass CRM and migrating those customers onto Surefire, by self-service package or through ICE professional services at standard rates.
The practical result: lenders who bought a CRM from their LOS vendor are being moved to a different CRM on the vendor's schedule. For many, it is the first forced migration. The pattern is worth noticing, because ICE has also set a hard sunset for the Encompass SDK on December 31, 2026, with transitional access fees after that.
Why lenders are evaluating alternatives now
- Concentration. LOS, CRM, and pipeline data under one vendor means renewal negotiations happen with a counterparty that already holds everything.
- Forced timing. The migration effort is being spent either way. Moving to Surefire costs a migration; moving anywhere else costs the same migration.
- Recurring per-seat cost. CRM seats are rent, and rent gets repriced.
The alternatives
Total Expert
The enterprise choice: deep marketing automation, compliance workflows, and journeys, priced per seat and quoted per organization. Strong for large lenders with dedicated marketing operations teams, and sized accordingly in cost and implementation effort.
BNTouch
A mortgage-specific CRM with published per-seat pricing and fast setup, popular with brokers and small retail teams. It keeps the CRM decision independent of your LOS vendor, at the cost of maintaining one more integration.
Shape
A per-seat CRM that blends sales pipeline, marketing, and some point-of-sale features. A pragmatic middle option for teams that want CRM and lead management in one tool.
Jungo
Salesforce with a mortgage layer. You get Salesforce power and the Salesforce tax: per-seat licensing on top of the app, and admin skills to run it well.
SpyGlass
SpyGlass treats CRM as one part of a platform rather than a separate rental. The CRM, borrower application, borrower portal, marketing automation, and website CMS ship together, wrapped around your Encompass instance with SSO and two-way pipeline sync. You license it once at a quoted fixed price, receive the source code, and run it in your own Azure tenant. It is a new platform from a small independent firm, currently onboarding founding customers. If the lesson of the Surefire migration is that rented tools move under you, the answer is to own the next one.
